Map Information
All mapping made available by kind permission of Ordnance Survey and Church Fenton Parish Council. All compass bearings in the descriptions can be fed direct into the compass, as declination has been added, hence the 'Mag'.
O/S Maps showing Church Fenton are on 50,000 Series York and Selby No. 105 and 25,000 Series York (Selby and Tadcaster) No. 290. Church Fenton can be found at Grid reference SE. 514 - 369.
Bus Details
Buses to and from Tadcaster and Pontefract and all villages in between are No.s 492 and 493 (please check - these details were correct at the time of writing), and pass through Church Fenton every hour, as well as being served by the main Leeds to York, and Sheffield railway line.

| Information | The path starts (and finishes) at Church Fenton Post Office in this case, but can be started anywhere along the route as it is a circular of approximately 5.5 mile or 9 Km. Wapentake is believed to have meant "A showing of weapons" as in a vote. This wapentake was often held near a river, or road junction. In the case of Barkston Ash this would have been the old ash tree. (No longer there). This is the tee junction on the old London road. This path is thought to have followed part of the old Barkston Ash boundary, from centuries back. |

| Information | This is a walk of just over 4 miles (6.8Km) and being a circular can be joined at any point. Please follow the map in a clockwise direction. |

| Information | A nice, flat easy walk on farm tracks, access roads and field edge paths. Plenty of rarely seen flowers. Could be done by 7 year old upwards with no trouble. Two footbridges crossing high speed line for trainspotters. Approximate time 2-3 hours. |
